Relaxing
Cajun cooking is a staple in Lewisville, Texas, though there are only two restaurants in the area. The first is Razzoo’s Cajun Cafe at 1990 S. Stemmons Freeway and the other one is Johnny G’s at 1425 Justin Road. Take it from me, nothing beats good Cajun cuisine.
Razzoo’s has been in town for several years and is a chain restaurant. Featured items include nice selection of Cajun classics like gumbo and blackened salmon. The walls are graced with fishing nets, and various items like old tires, and such; you will see something different every time you visit. The food is fresh and spicy and there is always enough to take some home, which is the Cajun tradition. You don’t have to have fish, or crawfish, or even gator; many people order the chicken, which comes grilled, fried or blackened. All this won't cost you an arm and a leg either, two can eat here for around thirty dollars.
Johnny G’s is a new restaurant in Lewisville. It is a rather unique blend of Cajun and Italian cooking. The shrimp pasta is something special, as is the blackened fish. The ambience is different as well, the tables are wooden picnic style and some of the walls are covered with galvanized aluminum. There are pictures of New Orleans, and the bayou all over the walls. But the best thing about Johnny G’s is that Mama G, prepares an Italian Buffet every Wednesday night, with the best all you can eat pasta and sauces in town.

Taking yoga or other meditation courses teach you how to use breathing techniques to help relax your mind and your muscles. Mind and body exercises include the cultivation of a meditative, inward state as a part of the practice for yoga and similar classes.
Yoga, tai chi, and many forms of martial arts are considered activities that require the use of a meditative state. Pilates do lend it self to many of the movement disciplines which includes yoga and also incorporates the mind and body a meditative focus.
Meditation Class Tips
The following tips can help you get the best benefits from your meditation or practice sessions.
Class or Method Choices
You will want to take a beginning-level class, if you have never tried any for of a meditation class. A beginning-level class will benefit you with the instructions and if you have health and fitness issues that limit you movement. The beginning level class will reduce your risk of injury. If you try to do to much or do the exercises in yoga or Pilates class too vigorously, you can cause injuries to your body.
Get a Qualified Instructor
When you get started with any form of a meditation class, you will want to work with a qualified instructor personally. The instructors can help you get ready for any classes or sessions that you wish to take. The instructor's job is to evaluate and provide you feedback on your posture and your body mechanics. This way you can achieve the best results and avoid any injuries.
Put Your Health Concerns and Issues on the Table
You will want to talk to your health care provider before starting any of the meditation classes. Your instructors should have experience in working with students who have health issues and concerns. The more experience and education your meditation class instructor has, the better it is for you and your health.
Goal Discussions
There is a wide range of benefits that are associated with yoga or similar classes. These style of classes can improve the strengthening and stretching of the core muscles, you posture, and sometimes reduces the neck, back and shoulder pain. Many have noticed improvements in their stress levels and stress related symptoms such as muscle tension and high blood pressure.
Instructor Techniques - Understand Them
There are techniques that instructors use during a class that requires their touch in order to help you understand their techniques. At times, you may be paired up with another person in the class to perform some of the techniques and can be helpful when you are given the proper instructions. If this makes you feel uncomfortable, by all means let them know. In cases like this, you may be given directions on how you can use these techniques alone.
Mindful Awareness Practice
The focusing on the sensations of breathing, stretching, holding positions and movements is the practice of mindful awareness. Mindful awareness helps you prevent injuries and use the proper techniques.
If you find your mind wandering during the classes, simply use the breathing techniques and the instructor's directions to bring your mind back to where it needs to be. By comparing yourself to others and judging oneself can cause injury to yourself. Relax and avoid the distractions.

Help relaxation drinks!
When we feel stressed or overwhelmed we often want to find a quiet place to escape to until we can feel calmer. Young children have the same need for a quiet and soothing place to sit in when they feel frustrated. Parents often send their children to their bedrooms to calm down. However, a child's bedroom is often anything but relaxing and soothing. Setting up a special place in your home for your children to escape to when they need time to calm down is a simple and effective way to help your child ease frustrations and relax. Follow these simple steps to create a calm place for your young children to retreat to when they feel overwhelmed.
Start by finding a place that is naturally quiet and away from the busiest places in your home. A corner in a room infrequently used is a good place to put together your quiet place. Look around your home to get a few ideas of places that would be calming, an unused breakfast nook or largecubby can be great places to use. If you have other children in your home you need to be mindful of the paces they normally play. For this to be a quiet place it needs to be away from noises and distractions that would only overwhelm a frustrated child even more, as well as making sure the child using it would not be bothered by other children looking to play.
Once you have your place picked out you can begin decorating it. Think of things that calm and relax you and apply them to your child. Soft, muted colors, gentle scents, and relaxing music are all things you can use to create an environment of peace. Be sure to consider what your child likes and does not like. Lavender may relax you, but the scent may be disrupting to your child. For some children classical music may work for others you may want to choose nursery songs, still others may prefer silence. If you have more than one child using the area you may want to keep a box nearby with supplies so that you can switch out music, scents, or other things for each child. Once you have an idea of how you will decorate the area then you can begin setting up the area for your area.
For your child's quiet place you want to choose toys and books that are quiet and calming themselves. Many parents use a soft bean bag chair or a child sized recliner to give your child a place they can sit and relax. Set up a small bookcase to hold items or use small baskets nearby that you can keep a few quiet objects in. Coloring books and crayons, books to read, and soft cloth dolls are items that many parents use. Consider toys that are not too stimulating and that you can trust your child to use if you cannot be there to watch. For some children colored dough may be a good option however others may be too excited by this and create a mess. Some parents suggest a small television to allow your child to watch cartoons on, however television can overstimulate a child even more and is not recommended at all for a calming, quiet place. The point of this area is not to merely quiet your child but to help them relax and feel less frustrated.
It is important to remember that this is not meant to be a punishment for your child, this cannot be stressed enough. Having a place for your young child to release frustrations and calm down when they feel overwhelmed. Children can easily be over excited by play, loud sounds, or too much activity. Young children that are unable to fully express themselves are especially vulnerable to frustration as they cannot explain what they need or understand what is wrong. Setting up a soothing, quiet place where they can be away from what is frustrating them and calm down is a great way to help your child learn how to handle stress and feel calmer.

Here in the valley there are many choices on where to stop and eat at. There are tons of Mexican restaurants as well. There is everything from chains across the valley to little mom and pop restaurants. Some are expensive and some are very cheap. Here is what I have found and what is worth visiting for your next Mexican dining adventure!
Top shelf is located at 3301 W Greenway rd in Phoenix AZ. It is conveniently located right off the I-17 freeway. There are two other valley locations as well but I have found that this location is the best and has the best service! They have wonderful food at this restaurant and the service is always great! My favorites are their shredded beef burro and the Polo Fundido. They are both scrumptious! You always get chips and salsa when you dine in for free and their salsa is great. This is real Mexican food made to order! Sometimes during the weekend or busy nights you may have to wait for about 15 minutes or so but it is worth it! They have a bar that you can eat and drink at as well if you don't feel like waiting. They have TV's set up in parts of the restaurant if you are into sports and want to watch the game. The prices are fair, I wouldn’t' say they are cheap but they are definitely not expensive either. You can usually get coupons too in the local coupon magazines that come in the mail for buy one entree and get one free or $5 off your total bill. So keep an eye out for those in the mail because this restaurant is wonderful and is definitely my favorite Mexican food in the valley.
Valle Luna is another local Mexican restaurant in the valley. The address is 3344 W Bell rd. in Phoenix, AZ. Now this restaurant has good food as well. The restaurant itself is older and sometimes not so clean. Other than that though they are great. The food is great. Rarely do you have to wait to be seated and if you do then it is minimal. The prices are great at this restaurant. Very low and you get a fair portion. The service is pretty good too. They have a bar that is off to the side as well to eat and drink if you wanted that kind of atmosphere. My favorite at this restaurant is the tacos. They are really good and a great place to go on a budget for the whole family.
Olivas is another great Mexican restaurant in the valley. They are located at 12201 N 28th Dr, which is right off the I-17 and Cactus rd. They are locally owned and are a great kept secret in the valley. I have never had to wait at this restaurant and they are rarely busy. They have great service and great prices. The food is wonderful! My favorite is the shredded chicken tacos. They are amazing. I also love their cheese crisps. Everything is delicious at this restaurant. The salsa is great too! They are always welcoming and a wonderful dining experience.
Carambas is a great place in the valley to get Mexican food as well. They are located at 6661 W Bell rd in Glendale, AZ. This isn't the average sit down restaurant though. I would say it is more like fast food environment but with the fresh cooked great food of a restaurant. You order at the counter and wait for your food and then you sit down and eat. All the food is fresh and cooked there not microwaved or anything. It is wonderful! It is so delicious and fast so this is a great place when you are in a hurry. They have seating inside and outside. The prices are just as much as a sit down dining restaurant though or maybe even more for some items. The service is usually pretty good as well. The restaurant is kept clean and in good condition. They are often pretty busy and sometimes you have to wait in line for a good 5-10 minutes but again it is worth it!
These are my best choices for Mexican food in the valley. They are all great and I would recommend them all. I would have to say again though that Top Shelf is my absolute favorite so definitely check them out if you haven't already!

Relaxinginginging
Progressive muscle relaxation is a simple psychological technique that has been scientifically proven to help people relax their bodies and ease their minds in a short period of time. It is often used as one of many methods to help people who suffer from conditions such as depression and especially anxiety disorders. However, your problems don't need to be serious enough to warrant the need for a psychologist visit in order for progressive muscle relaxation to help you. These few simple steps can give you a sense of calm and relaxation throughout your body whether you deal with panic attacks or just want some peace at the end of the day.
This is actually somewhat of a meditation technique, but don't let that scare you! It is a simple and effective one. Begin by getting in a comfortable positon. Sitting in a chair or lying down is recommended. Be aware that there's a chance you will fall asleep if you allow yourself to fully relax, especially if you're sleep deprived. This is natural and not a bad thing, unless perhaps you're doing it on your lunch break or before class. By being aware of this, you will be able to keep yourself awake. Your environment should be comfortable temperature-wise. It doesn't have to be dark, but there should be no bright lights shining toward you. Try to avoid noise distractions.
Close your eyes. Begin to breathe deeply in through your nose, and out through your mouth. Do this for a few moments, until you feel "settled in". Just focus on your breathing. When you are ready, tighten every muscle in your feet as hard as you can until it just begins to hurt (or count to ten, whichever you prefer), then immediately relax all of those muscles at the same time. After a few seconds, clench your calf and shin muscles as tightly as possible until they just start to hurt, and then instantly relax them.
Do this working your way up your entire body, clenching and releasing your thigh, butt, torso, back, hand (make fists), arm, shoulder, neck, and finally face (really scrunch your whole face up) muscles, one group at a time. Be sure to clench them as tight as you can without really hurting yourself, then relax them as fully as you can. You are systematically releasing the stress that you're holding in your body. You may need or wish to do certain muscles more than once, such as the shoulders, if you tend to hold a lot of tension there. Focus your thoughts on your breathing the muscles you are using at the time. When you are finished, you should feel almost like you could melt into your chair or bed, but don't worry if it doesn't seem to work perfectly the first time. You probably just need a little more practice or advice.
Guided progressive muscle relaxation CD's can be found from a number of sources online, and may be very helpful. They feature a calm voice guiding you through the process so you don't have to remember or think about the steps. Just having someone else lead in the process and giving tips along the way can really assist your ability to get into it and let go of your anxiety. Alternatively, some websites have various scripts for progressive muscle relaxation that you can record yourself reading or have a trusted individual read aloud to you.
Progressive muscle relaxation can be used any time you feel tension, worry, or panic in your body, or any time you simply want to relax. It is great to use right before bedtime, and even helps many people with insomnia to fall asleep faster. To get the full positive effects of this relaxation technique, you should ideally practice it every day. A good way to start making it a regular habit in your life is to do it every night just as you lie down in bed.
Using these steps to relax on a regular basis has the added benefit of your body becoming accustomed to the process. In a short time, you will notice that when you do it you are feeling the calmness more deeply, both physically and mentally, than you did when you started using progressive muscle relaxation. Not only that, but you will learn to relax faster than you could in the beginning.
Before long, your body will learn to recognize this worry-free state, and you will be able to imitate in without going through all of the steps. That means that if you get into an anxiety-provoking situation in public, you will be able to automatically recognize how you're tensing up (which may currently happen without you even noticing) and be able to revert to a state of calm in a minute or so. Imagine how this might be able to help your public speaking fears, social anxiety, or the stress the builds up in your muscles while hunched over your desk at work. However, it is a good idea to still practice the full process once per day.
Of course, if you have difficulty dealing with depression, anxiety, or stress in your life, you should seek professional help. Consult a psychologist for information about the pros and cons of using progressive muscle relaxation. Do not view this article as medical advice.

If you are ever in Houston and are hungry for something exotic and tastey, exit Highway 59 at Kirby, go north to Richmond, turn right, and on the left one will find one of India’s great import’s to Houston, Texas. The Khyber Grill has been serving Northern Indian food to hungry Houstonians of discriminating tastes for over a dozen years. It is considered by many the finest place to eat Indian food in Houston, if not in all of south east Texas,
Upon entering the Indian food establishment, one will be assaulted by the heady aroma of Indian spices and the sound of sizzling meat in the clay, tandoori ovens. If one is not already hungry for Indian food by that time, one will surely be within seconds of entering the Khyber Grill.
For an appetizer, one cannot go wrong with an order of samoosas, a flaky opastry filled with vegetables. A good alternative is an order of saag paneer, a kind of grilled cheese mixed with spices.
With the main meal, be sure to have some lassi, a kind of yogurt based shake. It comes sweet or salty, but this reviewer recommends the sweet.
For the main meal, one can order tandoori, a kind of North Indian barbeque. Bits of meat, such as chicken or lamb, are stuck on skewers and are grilled inside deep ovens made out of clay. The best the Khyber Grill has to offer is a garlicy Chicken Afghani. Chicken Tikka, and other tandoori dishes with lamb or sea food are also available.
Curry, a trdaitional staple of Indian food, is another good alternative. One can get them with chicken, lamb, or sea food in varying degrees of heat. The hottest curry would be a Vindaloo, which by all accounts is heavily spiced with gun powder. It is not for the faint hearted and should be accompanied by a full pitcher of water.
There are various vegetarian dishes available, including rice pillou. Main curry dishes come with sides of rice, raita (a kind of cool, yogurt salad) a cucumber and tomato based salad, and naan, a succulent Indian bread that is grilled in the tandoori oven. Orders of various kinds of naan, stuffed with onions or raisins and other good things, are also available.
There are some tasty desserts available as well. The rice pudding is especially delightful.
But sure to check the outside marquee. For more than seven years now, Khyber Grill's Mickey Kapoor has been using his marquee to taunt the neighboring Pappadeaux's. When the seafood restaurant wrote, "Hiring today 3 to 5," Kapoor replied, "My, You Do Start Them Young!" When Pappadeaux posted, "Happy Hour 4 to 6," Khyber responded, "DWI 8 to 12." When the establishment bragged, "Our Softshelled Crabs Will Reach Out and Grab You," Kapoor fired back, "Pervert!" People in Houston have been known to drive out of their way just to see what the restaurateur will come up with next, and so far the targets of Kapoor's barbs have taken them all in good stride.

Today, as the baby boomers age, obesity is at record levels and adult onset diabetes is at an almost epidemic stage. More and more of this demographic is realizing that healthy foods, products, and lifestyles are part of a preventive package they can take into their own hands. The natural and organics industry is experiencing an annual growth rate of about 10 percent. At a recent Natural Products Trade Show, more than 36,000 professional and trade attendees from over 80 countries attended. Some of the almost 1500 exhibits at the show focused on children's and even pet's health food products. There seems to be an ever-changing opinion among the experts as to what is and isn't healthy. First it was the animal fats and hydrogenated oils, then carbohydrates and trans-fats became the bad guys.. Now some carbohydrates are good and others are considered bad. Pretty much everyone agrees that natural, organically grown food is healthier than its chemically processed brother. The fast food industry has responded by offering more low fat choices on their menus, but not all of these are healthy to eat. The snack food industry doesn't seem to be worried either, knowing that we all crave something sweet or salty at times. For those of you who may have included eating healthier as one of your New Year's resolutions, here are some of the best health and natural food stores in St. Louis:
Whole Foods Market 1601 South Brentwood (314) 968-7744 The largest of the health food stores in St. Louis, Whole Foods tries to bring an all-inclusive shopping experience to its customers. They have a full-service bakery offering hearth baked breads and delicious pastries. Seafood is shipped from their own wharf and arrives at the store within 24 hours. All of the meats and poultry are free of hormones and growth stimulants. All of the produce is, of course, organically grown, some of it coming from local sources. The natural foods industry has expanded to include not only all of the food categories, but also nutritional supplements, cleaning products, and even pet foods. If you're looking for selection, then this is the place to go.
Wild Oats 8823 Ladue Road (314) 721-8004 Though not as large as Whole Foods, Wild Oats was the first "mega" health food store in the St. Louis area. They have a full service natural food supermarket featuring over 200 organic produce items daily. They claim that all of their products are now 100% trans-fat free. Check out their organic juice and coffee bar, or have lunch in their deli. The deli features new "corn-tainers" instead of plastic. The corn is biodegradable and better for the environment. Wild Oats carries the largest selection of vitamins and supplements in the area and I have found that they are very knowledgeable about all of the latest trends. They also offer free lectures and cooking classes in the café. Calendars of these events are available at the store.
Natural Way 8110 Big Bend (314) 961-3541 Natural Way is more like an old fashioned health food store with wooden floors and a small grocery and produce department. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable here. They have a large selection of vitamins and supplements, some of which aren't available at the giant places. I am also impressed with the large selection of books and educational materials that they have.
